Although Art Deco originated in the 1920's and 1930's it is very much alive and kicking in design to this day. It embodies bold styles, a chic aesthetic and the elegance it creates in any space is second to none. It represented glamour in trying times. Often coupled with gold or silver, the rich teal blues and greens, black, golds, navy blue and pinks all feature, along with more subtle tones like soft turquoise through to muted shades right through to rich burgundy reds. So the colour palette is broader than many initially consider. Wallpaper, curtains, table linen, bedding and cushions all look amazing in a statement scheme. However, dressing up a more neutral space with accent pieces only can work just as well.Â

Be transported to art deco champagne bubbles at the glamorous London Ritz, the razzle dazzle of the 1920's. A dress-up night out, sparkling bubbles - the elegance of sparkle!
Art Deco in neutrals work beautifully when you don't want to use the bold colours. Almost all my designs include neutral options too. These warm neutrals work well anywhere. Greige (a cross between beige and grey) is especially popular now.
Cool neutrals such as silver and gray look lovely in rooms you want to cool down... this might be a bedroom, bathroom or, if you live in a warm climate, perhaps the living room.
You can incorporate a little feel of Art Deco without going all out in the design too - trellis designs, fleur de lys and many florals and geometrics incorporate elements used in art deco and give you just enough!
